Brady’s Railway Hotel has a long history dating back to 1878 when it first opened its doors in Albury as an iconic “Aussie” pub. Fast forward to 2022 and whilst this pub is still referred to as a classic “Aussie” pub, it now has a lot more flair thanks to the designs of Warrane.
Warrane specialise in designing hotel masterplans to maximise a hotel’s floorspace and profitability whilst keeping in line with original features. We pride ourselves on adding value to assets through great designs, development management and strong stakeholder management skills.
Working directly with the owners and council, Warrane submitted and managed the CDC and DA plans in order to gain approval to extend the footprint of the Brady’s Railway Hotel which were currently underutilised. A new gaming room extension was submitted along with plans to overhaul the existing carpark to maximise the number of spaces which could be afforded.
This classic 1878 historical pub had countless stories to tell with its numerous ad hoc renovations and additions undertaken over the past 140 years. The original hotel had undersized concrete footings, structural steel members and beams fabricated from old railway sleepers. Warrane worked efficiently and brought in expert structural engineers to make the necessary building adjustments to ensure the project would be delivered in the required tight time frame whilst meeting all safety requirements and maintain structural integrity.
Warrane redesigned the entire hotel, including incorporating a new entry way to maximise the area and create a grandeur feel when patrons entered. Numerous internal walls were removed to open up the space and create a receptive and communal bistro experience. All traditional features of the hotel were taken into consideration with the designs, with the project delivering a new public bar, a new main bar which serves the bistro, an industrial kitchen and all amenities. A new family friendly outdoor area was also designed to make the hotel more appealing to the growing number of families now living in Albury.
Warrane always consider many factors about the patrons when undertaking a hotel re-design. Understanding the existing customers of Brady’s Railway Hotel, as well as designing to attract new patrons, resulting in many back-and-forth changes to the designs, ensuring that all who visit the hotel will enjoy their experience.
Brady’s Railway Hotel was renown for being a “blue collar” Australian pub. Warrane’s design and branding team incorporated rustic timber elements, classic bar tiles and sturdy ball light fittings, coupled with classic Australian artwork installations to ensure the pub embraced this Australian charm. Timber baton screening details were also included on the external facades to embrace the country feel. Warrane worked with Fremont.co on all signage, crafting the right creative elements for this hotel.
Warrane were instrumental in re-designing the hotel and gaining the necessary DA and CDC approvals to make Brady’s Railway Hotel the perfect place for Albury locals and visitors to eat, drink, and relax.
