Nozawa Onsen Distillery | An experiential design process comes to life

Warrane is thrilled to announce that the Nozawa Onsen Distillery (Distillery) in Japan has completed stage one of its operations and is now open for business.

Located in the northern region of Japan, Nozawa Onsen is a hot spring and ski resort village near Nagano. A vision was brought to the tables of Warrane of transforming an old cannery business into a Japanese Gin and Whiskey distillery that would not only be a functional production house, yet an onsite experience for those visiting the famous ski village.

Warrane, known for having the capabilities to work cross borders and deliver traditional yet functional designs, has brought this project to life. Warrane played a pivotal role in delivering this remarkable 500 square metre space transforming an old auto clave into a tasting dry bar. This innovative design, which includes handcrafted wooden barrel racks, reflects a seamless integration of different cultures and international influences, adding to the Distillery’s unique charm.

The Distillery has garnered tremendous recognition by receiving awards for its outstanding gins and whiskeys. Furthermore, thanks to Warrane, the Distillery is now fully operational with its retail shop now open, offering a cultural shopping experience and tasting opportunities for gin and whiskey enthusiasts.

Joe Stephen, Co-Founder of Warrane, recently visited Nozawa Onsen Distillery and said, “It was fantastic to see our creative vision transformed into reality. We are proud to have been part of this international project and be the lead design consultant for this thriving business. We look forward to continuing working with David Elsworth and his team to deliver the next stage of this project.”

Warrane is now embarking on stage two of this project which involves creating innovate designs for the project team to implement in order to create a welcoming restaurant space and tranquil gin garden.

Whether visiting the retail shop or indulging in a tasting experience, visitors of the Distillery will enjoy a memorable experience into the world of artisanal gins and whiskeys.
