Warrane has collaboratively delivered a Masterplan Concept for the proposed $51M USD ($78M AUD) re-imagining of Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club in California, USA.
With strong member backing and an 82% approval rate, the project represents a defining milestone in the Club’s long-term evolution. It reflects a shared vision developed through close collaboration between members, club leadership, and a multidisciplinary consultant team.
The Concept Master Plan repositions the clubhouse as a contemporary destination for gathering, hospitality, and connection, while maintaining a clear respect for the Club’s heritage. The design approach balances tradition with a refreshed architectural and interior language, creating spaces that feel both familiar and forward-looking.
What began as a strategic review of member needs evolved into a comprehensive masterplanning and interior re-imagining process for the clubhouse precinct.
Working closely with the Long-Range Planning Committee, General Manager David Conforti, and international project partners, the Warrane design team restructured key social, dining, and amenity areas to better reflect how members gather, host, and connect today.
Rather than treating the clubhouse as a static facility, the masterplan considers it as a flexible social framework, one that can adapt across everyday use, peak club events, and generational shifts in membership expectations.
The masterplan introduces improved spatial clarity and circulation throughout the clubhouse. Public and private zones are better defined, while key arrival and gathering points have been rebalanced to strengthen the member experience from entry through to event spaces.
At its core, the design establishes a flexible framework that supports both intimate daily use and larger social occasions. This adaptability ensures the clubhouse remains relevant not just for today’s membership, but for future generations as well.
The proposed transformation positions Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club as more than a traditional golf clubhouse. It becomes a modern hospitality destination grounded in community, connection, and landscape.
This milestone reflects a collective commitment to elevating the member experience while positioning the Club for its next chapter of growth and relevance.
